Hello Everyone,
This is my August summary. Since the month of August was a short one, I am just getting started with this topic, I am just beginning my research. I am interested in the knowledge base of CPE and the history, theory and context for which it was developed. I am particularly interested in investigating whether or not it has been successful in its designed purpose.
My interest in this area is the result of my personal experience as an auditor at Health Care Service Corporation, more popularly known as Blue Cross of Illinois. My experience with Blue Cross began in Chicago, and continued through my eventual promotion to Audit Manager in Springfield, Illinois.
My experience came to a sudden and unexpected end when improprieties were revealed with the organization (primarily in a Medicare B claims office in Marion, Illinois). The improprieties were not initially revealed to employees, other than in the most general terms, and the company launched an intensive education campaign designed to instruct employees and promote an atmosphere of ethical conduct.
You can read more in the following report from the GAO website: GAO Report on Medicare Contractor Improprieties. Given my former employer's response, I am interested in the research of the history, purpose, context and success of CPE.
I am very interested to explore this important topic.
Interesting topic, Dan! What is your plan for September? Bo
ReplyDeleteThe month of August for me also very short as well. I think that it was best that I began the research for my topic as early as possible. This way, I was able to decide what direction I wanted to take my research, as well as gather as many resources as possible. I also used this time to get to know the topics of the other research projects as well.

Yes, August was a good month for acquainting ourselves with the depth of our topics.
